The construction of the new school in Via Leopardi, in a peripheral part of the city where there are already other community services such as the nursery school, the sports complex, the home for the elderly and the home for associations, will therefore be an opportunity for urban, social and environmental regeneration. This is why the new building is designed taking into account the existing relationship of scale between the neighbourhood and the city, identifying itself in the context as a new collective pole, as a new social, accessible, connective and inclusive infrastructure, which enriches the community, not only the school community, with a civic place where it can recognise itself, combating the various phenomena of dispersion.

The new school, intended here as a “city within a city”, pays particular attention to various design themes that allow it to respond to the needs listed through a building that is porous, permeable, filtering from a functional and spatial point of view, and flexible from a technical and constructional point of view.

The conformation of the intervention within the lot is suggested by the existing context. Of primary importance is the presence of the urban forest, which is organised through the targeted relocation of some existing trees and new planting designed to create equipped “green rooms” that can be used for both school and extracurricular activities, by the community and neighbouring activities.
